Our Commitments
We want everyone affiliated with our company to enjoy a profitable relationship with us. This includes our end-user customers, our selling partners, our dealers, our employees, our supporting contractors, and our supply chain partners.
Treating People Right
We believe in treating others fairly with dignity and respect. We would rather empower people than limit them—celebrate personal professional growth as well as business success.
We will not tolerate behaviors that are hurtful but we also realize nobody is perfect. Sometimes a second chance is warranted depending on circumstances.
Social Responsibility
We want to be associated with people and firms that act to make a difference in the world.
For example, some of our suppliers employ re-entered citizens from the Department of Corrections who want to change their direction in life. We applaud such initiatives and see value in using business as a way to make a better world.
If you think your values align with ours, we would be pleased to discuss a relationship.
Everybody wins
August Berres’ products are designed to use materials that enhance user health and well-being. are safely manufactured, dimensionally stable, consistent, strong, durable, and recyclable.
No Hazardous Materials
To the best of our knowledge, no materials used by first or second-tier suppliers that are EPA-reportable as hazardous waste streams (per the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act or RCRA) are present in any component of the product line or used in manufacturing processes.
Lower Carbon Footprint
Strong consideration has been given to making material choices that reduce the carbon footprint of the final product and improve indoor air quality. We have avoided the use of laminates and edge-banding as the carbon footprint for our powder-coated wood components, by one study, is over four times less than high-pressure laminate and PVC edge-banding. All painted metal components use powder-coat technology. All plastics used in the products are recyclable.
We also know of one company that is rapidly expanding its process for recycling Lithium-ion batteries with 98% recovery.
Grid-saving Power System
The August Berres’ battery power system is a unique environmentally friendly feature in another way. As the world’s power grids continue to age, battery-powered devices reduce grid replacement costs. Batteries can charge at night when the grid is less challenged and utility rates are lower. Conversely, batteries can be depleted at peak usage times of day when the grid is the most challenged and utility rates are the highest.
Peak power plants are expensive relative to the annual number of hours of operation. Power generation replacement costs can be reduced by reducing peak usage. Utilities and regulatory agencies have or will introduce significant increases in rates related to time-of-use (TOU). Utility experts consider batteries to be a “power generation” source as they supplant the need for peak power.
Clean Operational Resilience
Many businesses and agencies operate critical processes that are vulnerable to power outages. Respond! provides resilience at the workstation level. Expensive standby diesel generator systems and facility-wide battery solutions can be avoided with intelligently designed resilience plans that incorporate the Respond! system. The August Berres system anticipates offsite charging during times of crisis—our battery charging products include mobile options.
