A Typical Encounter at a Trade Show
What attendees really want to know.
As we learn more about customer reactions to Respond!, a pattern has emerged. Below is the beginning of a typical encounter at a trade show the first time someone learns about the product line.
Attendee: What is this?
August Berres Sales Representative: This is the world’s first battery-powered office workstation.
As you can see we are powering a laptop, monitor, wireless phone charger, sit-stand legs, wireless 5G hotspot, and task light.
Notice there are no cords or wires on the floor.
Attendee: Oh, wow!
[brief pause]
How long does the battery last?
August Berres Sales Representative: With a workstation set up like this one, a typical user will operate for about 6 hours before they need to swap a battery.
[hands a battery to the attendee so they can feel the form and weight]
Attendee: How do you charge the batteries?
August Berres Sales Representative: We have two solutions; a cart where you can charge 24 batteries at once from a single outlet and a 3-position tabletop charger.
Attendee: How long does it take to charge the battery?
August Berres Sales Representative: Overnight, not more than 9 hours.
Attendee: [Pause, thinking] [Architect- ”I have xx projects where I could use this”] [Facilities Manager- ”We make a lot of changes in our layouts and this would make it easy for us”]
August Berres Sales Representative: [the discussion continues]
